iPhoned it in from Barstow

Not a surprise; I got a late start to Denver. It was noon as I was easing the little Element up and over the Cajon Pass. Everything shimmering with heat. As I went over the pass my NPR station fizzes into static. I let it go … Hoping against hope that Ira Glass would return on the other side to finish his interesting story. But as I slid onto the High Desert and the static shaped itself back into words, it was a preacher telling the story. He was saying that if I don’t stand up for Christ with people on earth, Jesus won’t stand up for me with his dad in heaven. Yeah — that Jesus is a real tit for tat kind of savior. Anyway, I guess I’ve officially left the arugula-eating coast. I’m in America now. iPhone report: I can’t believe how cool this is. I’m blogging from a gas station in Barstow. Too infernal here to write more now. Next stop: Baker for the traditional pix of it’s famous thermometer. Below: Road ready … Val took this photo just before I left the LBC today.
